ELECTIVES AND STEM DAYS!
MONDAY STEAM CLASSES
On Mondays, students enjoy a variety of science classes as well as art activities. Monday is a stand-alone class day, and families are welcome to enroll in Mondays only.
Classes meet from 9:00-2:00 and tuition is $150/month with a $150 supply/registration fee (pick up is between 1:45 and 2:00 pm)
Students are divided into small groups by grade level and rotate through a variety of instructors and activities.
Here are some of the topics that will be covered throughout the year. The topics will change slightly each month but every week will include opportunities to interact with animals and plants as well as perform hands on science experiments.
Art Explorers: Students will enjoy a variety of art activities and explore line, shape, color, and value. We will work in a variety of mediums including paint, pastels, and mixed media. Students will also learn about famous artists and their works. *Additional times for art are available after school, please visit the Music and More main page for after school class times*
Science Explorers: Students will enjoy hands on science experiments and instruction by our Master science instructors. Some of our previous modules include dissection, chemistry, geology, STEM, electricity and magnets, and light and sound.
Junior Biologist/Animal Care: Students will learn about animals, plants, and more in this hands on class. Students will have the opportunity to interact with our animals. This class is focused on biology, nature, Texas native plants and animals, and animal husbandry.
Aquatic Science: Students learn about water quality, caring for an aquarium, and aquatic animals and fish.
Gardening Club: Students will work on preparing beds, starting seeds, planting harvesting, and other aspects of gardening. They will also have time for outdoor play and exploration. (Spring)
Heath and Fitness: Students will explore the human body through experiments as well as physical activity and exercise.
SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING

Lego Robotics
Instructor: Johnny Reed
Ages 9-14: Tues & Thurs 5:00-6:00 pm
Tuition: $250/flat fee for fall semester Sept-Dec
Students will participate in Lego League Robotics which includes participating in the tournament in December. Students will learn to build and program Lego robots to perform tasks and solve problems. There may be additional practices and tournament dates outside of class. This class is right after band for older students, and younger students can take art and creative writing from 4-5 pm as well.
Animal Care Class

For families who don't want to do the full STEAM day, this is a fun class for your student! Ms. Holly's group will enjoy working with the fish tanks, turtles, and our alligator helping care for the animals while the younger group joins Ms. Sarah for natural science topics and a wide range of animals from bugs to legless lizards. This is right before theater for those students attending theater class on M/W.
Aquaponics Club
Instructor: Holly Ayala
Grades 6-12 Monday 2:00-4:00 Open to grades 5-6 with special permission from the instructor
$50 a month or $395/year
Aquaponics is a system in which the waste produced by farmed fish or other aquatic animals supplies nutrients for plants grown hydroponically (without soil), which in turn purify the water. In this class students will set up and maintain an aquaponics system. This is a hands-on "club" type of class, this is not designed to be a complete science curriculum for high schoolers. Students will also enjoy learning about native fish and aquatic animals including trips to catch animals in local waterways.
High School Chemistry with Lab Grades 9-12
Instructor: Holly Ayala
Grades 9-12 Tues/Thurs 1:45-3:00 pm
$65 supply fee, $85/month
This is a complete high school curriculum with labs. Ms. Holly previously taught high school chemistry for CCISD. This class includes chemistry labs and assignments for a complete course for high schoolers. Chemistry is the study of substances that make up our universe. Throughout the year students will be exploring what chemicals are made of and how they interact with each other. From microscopic atoms to the periodic table, out chemical world is not as random as it appears.
High School Anatomy and Physiology with lab Grades 9-12
Instructor: Holly Ayala
Grades 9-12 Tues/Thurs 1:00-1:45 pm
$65 supply fee, $75/month
This is a complete high school curriculum including labs and assignments. Anatomy is the study of the structure and relationships between body parts while physiology is the science of how those parts come together to function and keep that body alive. During this course, students will literally get to know themselves forwards, backwards, inside and out while learning the Latin and Greek languages of science.
MATH

Consumer Math Grades 9-12
Instructor: Amy Keels
2:00-3:00 pm Mon & Wed
$40 registration/supply fee, Tuition $65/month OR $284 semester OR $556 yearly
This is a unique class where students learn how math applies to the real world . Students will cover topics such as balancing a checkbook, taking out a loan including types of interest, and making a budget. Students also use an online software to keep a bank account where they deposit their paychecks from their "jobs" and pay bills.
Algebra 1, Algbra 2, or Advanced Mathmatics
Instructor: Julia Snedecker
$40 registration/supply fee, $65/month for Tues/Thurs only, or $105/month for Tues/Wed/Thurs
Students will use the Saxon math curriculum to work through Math concepts and problems. Class meets on Tues/Thurs for 45 mins. Students may choose to also attend the intensive Math Lab that meets an additional 2 hours on Wed. See the schedule or call for class times.
ENGLISH AND LITERATURE

Creative Writing
Grades 2-4
Thursdays 4:00-5:00 pm
Instructor: Ms. Kristen Kilpatrick
No supply fee, Tuition $45/month OR $197/semester OR $385/year
Students will work on creative writing skills through imaginative and creative activities. Children will learn about brainstorming, sentence structure, using adjectives and adverbs, and proper spelling/punctuation.
Journalism
Grades 7-12
Mon & Wed 1:00-2:00 pm

Students will create a school newspaper and learn about writing and researching skills as well as proofreading and technical writing. This class is designed to fulfill a high school elective credit if needed, although 7th and 8th grade students may still attend
English and Literature
Grades 10-12

Meets for two class periods 9:00-10:45 Tues & Thurs
$65 registration/supply fee, Tuition $120/month OR $523/semester OR $1026 yearly
Students may choose to take our English classes separately from the complete paths program. This includes 2 class periods. Students will learn about literary analysis and proper MLA formatting while reading classic works of literature including Shakespeare's Othello, Animal Farm, The Road, and Frankenstein.
ART

Art Explorers:
$75/month
Multiple class time available depending on age.
Students will explore a variety of mediums and techniques in this art class. We will work with class, watercolors, pencils and charcoal, pastels, and acrylic paints. We will also learn about famous artists and create work inspired by their masterpieces.
PRIVATE MUSIC LESSONS AND BAND

Band - Grades 5 and older

Beginning Band: Tues & Thurs 4:00-5:00
Intermediate Band: Tues & Thurs 5:00-6:00
Advanced Band: Mon & Wed
General music / music history is included in the PATHS program. We also have the option to take private music lessons. We recommend that band students consider private music in addition to band as they will progress much faster and enjoy their classes more. Cost for private lessons is $120 a month for a 30 min lessons meeting once a week. We also have private piano lessons available. MUSICAL THEATER

Musical Theater and Acting - ages 8-14
Instructor: Allison Sumrall
Monday and Wed 2:00-4:00 PM
The drama program for the older students is taught by Ms. Allison Sumrall. Ms. Alli worked as a professional actor for many years as a company member with Masquerade Theater performing at Houston's Wortham theater. She was also a full time staff instructor at their education program, the Tribble School of Musical Theater. She has extensive knowledge of theater. For our fall 2022 production, we will be doing a play not a musical. We will be performing a children's version of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.
