MONDAY STEAM CLASSES
On Mondays, students enjoy a variety of science classes as well as art activities. Monday is a stand-alone class day, and families are welcome to enroll in Mondays only.
Classes meet from 9:00-2:00 and tuition is $150/month.
Here are some of the topics that will be covered throughout the year. The topics will change slightly each month but every week will include opportunities to interact with animals and plants as well as perform hands on science experiments.
Art Explorers: Students will enjoy a variety of art activities and explore line, shape, color, and value. We will work in a variety of mediums including paint, pastels, and mixed media. Students will also learn about famous artists and their works. *Additional times for art are available after school, please visit the Music and More main page for after school class times*
Gardening Club: Students will work on preparing beds, starting seeds, planting harvesting, and other aspects of gardening. They will also have time for outdoor play and exploration.
Heath and Fitness: Students will explore the human body through experiments as well as physical activity and exercise.
Science Explorers: Students will enjoy hands on science experiments and instruction by our Master science instructors. Our modules will include dissection, chemistry, geology, STEM, electricity and magnets, and light and sound.
Junior Biologist/Animal Care: Students will learn about animals, plants, and more in this hands on class. Students will have the opportunity to interact with our animals. This class is focused on biology, nature, Texas native plants and animals, and animal husbandry.
Animal Care Club: This class is a volunteer position for responsible teens who are interested in animal care. Instructor permission required. Students must complete mandatory training class before participating. Animals include small mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and fish. Students will also volunteer to care for animals throughout the week and over weekends. TIME TBA BASED ON STUDENT AVAILABILITY
We offer two different robotics programs for the students.
First Lego League Lego Robotics (ages 9-14)
This is a program offered through First Lego League. Students work on programming and designing robots to meet specific challenges. Students attend a tournament in December. Please click here for a handout with more information on the First Lego League program. Space is very limited.
Teen Tech Challenge (ages 14+)
This class is for high school students. They will work with CAD software, 3-D printers, and more to create, design, build, and program robots and participate in tournaments. This is an intensive class and has practice tournaments most weekends (attendance is not required at all tournaments.) The team will also have projects and participate in fundraising for the program. Cost for this program is $250 for the year.
Private Music Lessons
General music is included in the PATHS program for grades K-1, recorder ensemble for grades 2-3, and Band for grades 4 and older. We also have the option to take private music lessons. We recommend that band students consider private music in addition to band as they will progress much faster and enjoy their classes more. Cost for private lessons is $100 a month for a 30 min lessons meeting once a week. We also have private lessons available piano, guitar, and other instruments.
Musical Theater and Acting
Our musical theater class performs in 2 productions each year. We also have other theater classes including improvisation and scenes and monologues. The theater class offerings vary by semester.
